The Love Dare - Sex and Our Teens

Hi Friends,

 

                This Sunday, April 26^th, we continue our series on The Love Dare as we consider sex and our teens.  What a crazy world for teenagers today.  What do our teens really need from us?  First, the most important thing we can offer our children is loving and accepting relationships.  Second, we need to develop a better understanding of their world.  It is not the same world we grew up in.  I invite each of us to take The Love Dare and help our Deer Flat teens.  It has been clearly demonstrated that the stronger relationships teens have with parents and other adults, the less likely they are to be active sexually.  Are you a parent or grandparent of teenagers?  Do you have teenage neighbors?  How about the teenagers you walk past while you are here at Deer Flat?  I want each of us to pray about taking The Love Dare for our teens.  I hope you are able to join us this Sunday.  May the joy of the Lord be your strength.

The Love Dare - What Was Lost in the Garden

Hi Friends,

                This Sunday, April 19^th, we begin our Love Dare series as we consider how to fire proof our marriages and the relationships that are most important to us.  This week we will be looking at Genesis and asking “What went wrong in the Garden?”  We live in a society soaked in sexual images.  God designed our sexuality to be a blessing.  This gift has lost its purity and is being misused and abused.  As we look at God’s Word we will see that our sexuality is at the heart of creation.  We will ask God to show us how to redeem our sexuality in ways that are pleasing to God and to us.

                As a part of our morning worship services we will be sharing “Jesse’s story”.  I am confident you will be encouraged by Jesse as he tells us of the transformation that is taking place in his life as he is becoming more like Jesus.

                Oh yes, this Sunday at 6:00pm we will also be showing the Fireproof movie at Deer Flat.  Tickets are only $2.00 per family with popcorn and soda pop included.  In theaters nationwide, Fireproof touched the hearts and impacted the marriages of millions of moviegoers.  Nursery will be provided and events are planned for youth while parents enjoy the movie.  Join us as we consider how to Fireproof our marriages and the relationships that are most important to us.

Jesus Walked this Road for You - Real Faith

Hi Friends,

 

                I am writing this on Good Friday.  I have been fasting through the day reflecting on the cross.  Jesus loves me, this I know.  For the Bible tells me so.  A children’s lullaby but perhaps one of the best songs I will ever learn.  I am humbled by the cross, that Jesus would love me so much.  I cannot pretend to have earned or deserved such love.  It is a gift – a an overwhelmingly gracious and loving gift that continues to transform my life.

 

                This Sunday is Easter!  We will worship at 9:30 and 11:00am.  We will complete our sermon series “Jesus Walked this Road for You” with a message from Mark 12 on “Real Faith”.  In our 11:00am service we will celebrate the baptism of twenty-two new believers!  Wow – what a great way to celebrate Easter.

 

                Let’s pray together that many of our family and friends will be drawn into His presence for worship on Easter morning.  Let’s work together to sow as many seeds of grace as we can.  Let’s pray that the Spirit of God will help all of us to be more like Jesus.

Jesus Walked this Road for You - Real Love

Hi friends,

 

                Palm Sunday!  Pastor Doug continues our series on “Jesus Walked this Road For You” with a message on “Real Love” from Mark 15.  While many of you enjoy our worship service this week, I will be attending a celebration service for our daughter church in Nampa – Everyday Truth – as they receive their charter members.  This is a significant moment in their development as a starting church and I am glad to be with them representing our Deer Flat family.

 

                I invite you to join our staff and board in prayerfully considering who you might invite to join us for our Easter services.  Would you ask the Lord to guide your heart to the person or persons that you might personally invite to come with you as we gather to celebrate our Risen Lord on Easter morning?

 

                This is an awesome time of year on the church and Christian calendar.  Our staff has been working hard for weeks on all of the parts of our Easter celebration.  Now we submit all of that to the Lord and pray for the blessing of His glorious presence.  May the Risen Lord touch our hearts and reach out to others through us as we celebrate the empty tomb.
