Hi Friends,
Thank you for your patience. Last Sunday Ellen and I were back east for a family funeral. Our thanks to the many who lifted us in prayer as we traveled to join family.
This Sunday, November 30th, we begin the Advent Season as we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas and the birth of the baby Jesus. Our Christmas sermon theme this year is “Gifts that Keep on Giving” as Pastor Doug will be preaching from John 3:16 on “The Gift of Christmas”. I hope you will be able to join us for our Heritage Service at 9:30am or our 11:00am worship service.
As I am writing this I just saw a headline on the internet reporting that a 34 year old Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death at 5:03 this morning as shoppers stampeded into the store to begin “Black Friday”. As emergency crews tried to revive his lifeless body shoppers continued to walk past and enter the store in search of holiday sales. I am stunned. My spirit is grieving at such madness. Our world desperately needs the Christmas story. A story of God’s great love for the world. I pray that we will each live the story before our watching world this Christmas season.
May the Lord bless you with His joyous presence.
A friend,
Roger
